Practicalities in Bodø
For the selected candidates, all travel and accommodation expenses are covered. There are connecting flights to Bodø departing from Oslo and other larger cities in Norway several times a day. The flight from Oslo takes about 2 hours.
In Bodø, you will be lodged in one of the comfortable and central hotels. All meals will be free, served in one place, where contestants, workshop teachers, musicians and jury members will eat together.
You may need warmer clothes than you think, as Bodø is north of the Arctic circle. Check the weather forecast and temperatures here. It’s also a good idea to bring hiking/jogging shoes, in case you feel like exploring some of the beautiful hikes just outside town.
The hotels are all equipped with dark curtains to block out the midnight sun, which is as strong as the daylight, but if you want to be sure to sleep, you might like to bring a sleeping mask.
The competition and all the rehearsals will take place in Stormen, a beautiful and modern concert house with a library attached, built in 2014. There will also be practice rooms available at the concert hall.
