Jadran Duncumb

Following guitar studies at the Barratt Due Music Institute in Oslo, and at the Royal College of Music in London, as well as a short but enjoyable detour into playing the viola da gamba (it was more fun for him than for those listening), Jadran has focused on lute instruments for the last 13 years. He completed a master’s degree under Rolf Lislevand in Trossingen, Germany in 2016.

He is a sought-after soloist and has built up a substantial solo discography that includes, among other repertoire, all of Bach’s lute works over two CDs – both of which were awarded a Diapason d’Or. He has also recorded Dowland’s Lachrimae collection with Accademia Strumentale Italiana for Challenge Classics, and several chamber collaborations with leading musicians in their field including the gambist André Lislevand, the violinists Johannes Prasmohler and Lina Tur Bonet, and the soprano Giulia Semenzato on romantic guitar.  He was an associate professor of lute at the Scuola Civica di Milano until 2023 and has been the stable artistic director of Barokkanerne – Norwegian Baroque Ensemble since the same year, leading projects from Monteverdi madrigals to Telemann concertos.
